MC Solaar (1969-) is a French singer of Senegalese-Chadian origin. He is one of the most internationally popular and influential rap and hip hop artists.
He is known for his complex lyrics, which rely on word play, lyricism, and inquiry. He has recorded with British group Urban Species and the late Guru, member of the acclaimed New York duo Gang Starr. He has released eight studio records and one live album.
“Bouge de là” appears on his first album Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo. Released in 1991, it is a pioneer album of French rap and Bouge de là is considered by many as the very first big hit of French rap. Some other big hits: “Caroline”, Solaar pleure”, “Hasta la vista”, “Nouveau Western”, “Séquelles”.

Elle me dit: “M.C.

It all started in a city called Maison Alfort
When I see a weird mama who is shaking her body
She tells me “M.C. Solaar Come here so I give you some comforting”
I said “No thanks, it’s very sweet of you but I don’t eat porc”
She made me, colloquialism meaning = she said: “Get out of my way ! ”
Move out !

I continue my journey, I arrive near Gare de Lyon
When I see a guy who claims to be very strong like a lion
He tells me “Claude M.C. do you wanna boxe = fight”
His hematoms/bruises were bigger than Samantha Fox’s breasts !
He said: “Get out (of my way) ! ”
Move out !

J’ai pris mon Magnum, j’ai dû mal comprendre.
Elle m’a fait: “Bouge de là !”
Bouge de là !

My neighbour (living on the same floor), her name is Cassandre
She’s got a small dog she calls Alexander
She tells me “Claude M.C. do you wanna take him out”
I took out my Magnum, I must have misunderstood
She said: “Get out (of my way) ! ”
Move out !

J’ai dit: “oui j’adore, avec du sel et bien cuits !”
Elle m’a fait: “Bouge de là !”
Bouge de là !

Right away I went to Lucy’s
Who loves dogs, cats and 30 million friends (=TV pet’s show)
She tells me “Do you love animals, you my super M.C.”
I said “Yeah, lov’em, with salt and well cooked”
She said: “Get out (of my way) ! ”
Move out !

Later in the metro there’s a bum hanging around
He tells me his whole life, meaning his life story, he tells me he comes from Rennes
Then he tells me that he stinks, that he should take a bath…
I tell him : “Jump in the sewers, it takes you right in the Seine (river) !”
He said: “Get out (of my way) ! ”
Move out !

I continue my way, I arrive on Barbes boulevard
When I see one of my friends who’s from Marrakech
He tells me “Arwah, arwah, I’ll buy your raps in dinars”
I said “No, I want some dollars ’cause they call me Solaar”
He said: “Get out (of my way) ! ”
Move out !

Alors, j’ai bougé, j’ai dû m’en aller, partir, bifurquer,
J’ai dû m’évader, j’ai dû m’enfuir, j’ai dû partir, j’ai dû m’éclipser,
J’ai dû me camoufler, j’ai dû disparaître…pour réapparaître.
Oh ! Oh ! Bouge de là
Bouge de là

So I moved, I had to go, leave, turn around
I had to escape, to run away, I had to leave, I had to slip away,
I had to camouflage myself, I had to diseppear…to reappear
Oh ! Oh ! Move out
Move out !
